ScissorCV Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

ScissorCV is a Chrome extension for tailoring resumes, generating cover letters, scoring ATS keyword matches, drafting application answers, and autofilling job application fields.

Information stored by the extension

ScissorCV stores resume text, job descriptions, generated resumes, cover letters, ATS reports, profile details, screening answers, AI provider settings, license status, and application history in Chrome local storage on your device.

Information sent to AI providers

When you generate a resume, cover letter, ATS keyword extraction, or application answer, the relevant resume text, job description, and prompt content are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you choose, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Azure OpenAI, or a local OpenAI-compatible server.

Your use of a given AI provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms, not ours:

Information sent to payment providers

If you activate a license key, ScissorCV sends the license key and a device label to Dodo Payments to validate access.

The autofill helper

The autofill helper is injected into a web page only when you click "Autofill this application" in the side panel. It reads the form fields on that page and fills blank ones using details you saved locally. It does not send any page content or your saved details to us or to any third party; filling and field highlighting happen entirely on that page.
